LaMara {Mara} Hunter is a multi-talented individual with the gift to create expressive pieces. She is the Founder & CEO of Hunter Kelly Entertainment & Consulting, L.L.C., a Marketing & Brand Management Company. Mara is a award-winning Music Journalist & Freelance Writer as well as an avid Blogger.  Her love for her community's economic, mental, physical & emotional growth and development encouraged her to become a Community Health Advocate. She saw the need in your community be be a part of the solution with gun-violence and developed two initiatives that focus on youth development & conflict resolution.



As CEO of Hunter Kelly Entertainment & Consulting, she manages the day-to-day operations of the entertainment firm, consults with potential clients and produces quality entertainment events for consumers in the New England and Tri-State regions as well as the Atlanta market. As a Brand & Marketing Consulting for HKE, she looks to prepare the new generation of entertainers by using her experiences as a Music Journalist and Freelance Writer as well as her Management of such comedians as Comedian Gerald Kelly.









Mara hosts the ‘Soul in the City’ website, which was created to give an enhanced experience of the culture of Soul music http://www.MaraHunter.com. As a Writer and Journalist, she’s had the good fortune to write for The SOULetter, Total Eclipse and Lioness Magazines. Contributing for such publications has afforded her opportunities to work with some of the most amazing, Grammy-award nominated artists and record monumental events around the country. 








As a community health advocate, LaMara joined several boards including: the Alliance of Black Professionals, Faith-Based Health Alliance, Having a Ball, Keeping the Faith and Black Employees Connecting [a Baystate Health Employee Resource Group.] She is an ambassador for the American Heart & American Stroke Associations and in February 2012, was named as one of theGo Red Leading Ladies of Western MA.”





LaMara created and facilitates two programs. The Paul Laurence Dunbar Expressive Writing Program which is a literacy program that caters to the creativity of young people by engaging them through the art of writing focused on reading and writing through poetry, spoken word, creative writing and short stories; [Some of her students were able to contribute to an adjacent blog called the Dunbar Expressive Writer's Blog].The other initiative, Microphones Up Guns Down is a conflict resolution initiative, which uses the arts of comedy, music and poetry to encourage young people to make the right choices in the midst of adversity. She also contributes to the arts of Poetry and Dance. 










LaMara is married to actor/comedian, Gerald Kelly, together they have 8 children and two dogs. They reside in Atlanta, GA.

Many know actor, comedian Gerald Kelly for various reasons, but the one that he holds the highest acclaim for is being a stand-up comic with the gift to help people through their life's challenges. The gift that he has isn't just to make people laugh, but to make them cry; cry tears of joy, releasing frustrations of hurt, pain and sometimes defeat.
