World Renown, Trombonist, Jeff Bradshaw is back with his second release titled, Bone Appétit For those who don't know Jeff Bradshaw and if you haven't heard this jazz musician do his thing, you have been living under a rock for the last 10 years or so....and you definitely need a dose of what real smooth, unadulterated jazz music sounds, feels and tastes like. This soulful musician has made the trombone the instrument of choice and has laid down some beautiful sounds that this world has experienced in a very long time. So, it is my pleasure to present to some and introduce to others, Mr. Trombone himself, Jeff Bradshaw!!!
This North Philly dude got his start with Jill Scott (Hidden Beach Recordings) and has collaborated with such artists as N'Dambi (Total Eclipse Magazine's premier cover Indie Soul artist), Glenn Lewis and Darrius Rucker. He recalls when he got his first break. "In 1994, I began to meet the who’s-who of what is now the hierarchy of the Philly music community. People like James Poyser, Andre Harris, Vidal Davis, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Ahmir ”Quesluv” Thompson, Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter of the Legendary ROOTS CREW, DJ King Britt, Keith Pelzer, Darren Henson, Ivan Barrius, Carvin Higgins, and many others!!! It was because of these people I arrived into the real world of major recording, with artist like Eryka Badu, Jill Scott, Floetry, Darius Rucker, Musiq, The Roots, Earth Wind & Fire, and Michael Jackson, just to name a few."
He dropped his first album, Bone Deep in 2001 and now he's back giving you a double dose of soul in the city, with this double CD release, Bone Appétit. It drops April 24th and with such collaborations with Coko (SWV) and Raheem Devaghn he is destined to bring a complete dining experience that's satisfies even the pickiest lover of good, authentic cuisine...serving up some New Orleans style loving with his tribute to N.O. Jazz, Bradshaw partnered up with the lovely, Britt diva, Marsha Ambrosius to recreate "Got Til It's Gone". Jeff and Hidden Beach dedicated their time, effort and proceeds towards putting instruments in the hands of young people; those directly affected by Hurricane Katrina. There is still much work to be done in reestablishing the livelihood of the birthplace of dixieland and big brass Jazz music! Koodles to Jeff and other artists that take the time to bring awareness to these disparities.
Jeff will be doing his thing in the DMV with the Metropolitan Muse Concert Series, a live release of his new album. If you're in the area or love to travel just to get your fill of some good music, Jeff is ready to serve you up some down home jazz with a side of soul....nourish the inner spiritual need of timeless music by supporting the movement! One Love!
Until next time people, Mara Hunter signing off!!!
