Erykah Badu aka DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown coming to a City Near You!!!

The Bay Area’s Ankh Marketing celebrates its 7-year anniversary with DJ sets from neo-soul phenom Erykah Badu (as DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown) & multi-platinum producer/drummer Questlove on August 12th & 13th at The Mezzanine and Public Works in San Francisco, as the preeminent urban marketing and events production company continues it’s longstanding reign of bringing the most talented acts to Northern California

(San Francisco, California - August 2, 2011)  During the second weekend in August, Bay Area’s most renowned urban promotions and events production company Ankh Marketing will kick off their 7th year anniversary celebration in San Francisco with a series of exclusive events boasting a line up of A-list artists and a bevy of special guests. On Friday, August 12th, Ankh will present a special DJ set spun by Universal/Motown recording artist Erykah Badu - under her DJ moniker Lo Down Loretta Brown - at San Francisco’s top live music venue Mezzanine. On Saturday, August 13th, Ankh continues the celebration with yet another DJ set by cultural critic/recording artist/drummer Questlove at Public Works located in San Francisco’s Mission District.
We’re planning on having some pretty special guests. It’s going to be a unique experience,” says Ankh Marketing’s co-founder Kamel Jacot-Bell. “Seven is a very significant number for various reasons. We wanted to celebrate our 7th year anniversary with artists that symbolize Ankh Marketing’s mission and pull off some fun events simultaneously.” Jacot-Bell notes that selecting the headliners for Ankh Marketing’s anniversary weekend events was simply a matter of calling on old friends. “Erykah Badu and Questlove are two artists that strongly represent our brand within the music community,” he says. “We’ve done events with Questlove ever since he started his DJ career. Erykah’s done some of our biggest concerts in the Bay Area. The way she represents the ankh is parallel to that of our company.”

World Renown, Trombonist, Jeff Bradshaw is back with his second release titled, Bone Appétit For those who don't know Jeff Bradshaw and if you haven't heard this jazz musician do his thing, you have been living under a rock for the last 10 years or so....and you definitely need a dose of what real smooth, unadulterated jazz music sounds, feels and tastes like. This soulful musician has made the trombone the instrument of choice and has laid down some beautiful sounds that this world  has experienced in a very long time. So, it is my pleasure to present to some and introduce to others, Mr. Trombone himself,  Jeff Bradshaw!!! This North Philly dude got his start with Jill Scott (Hidden Beach Recordings) and has collaborated with such artists as N'Dambi (Total Eclipse Magazine's premier cover Indie Soul artist), Glenn Lewis and Darrius Rucker. He recalls when he got his first break. "In 1994, I began to meet the who’s-who of what is now the hiera

Conya Doss Gives VII Reasons to Fall in Love

Conya Doss Gives VII Reasons to Fall in Love Photo Credit: Stephen Midgette Falling in love is definitely not hard to do, especially when you have a beautifully, soulful songstress singing the sweet melodies of the full rush of a love song. If you've never had the love experience, Conya Doss gives you seven reasons to step out on faith and try something new. 'VII' is the title of another classic in the making. Photo Credit: Stephen Midgette The Queen of Indie Soul has returned and she's not holding anything back with this newest collection of honey suckle soul music. From the introductory track, "Gone" and the follow up of "Fragments"; both infused with funky rhythms (which include the hi hat, snare and guitar,) the electric feeling that these tracks give off, leaves you wanting, hoping and needing to fall hard for the one you're with. Tracks like "You Got Me" is reminscant of memorable Ms. Doss classics as her tru

Comedian Gerald Kelly Gives the Gift of Laughter and So Much More...

Many know actor, comedian Gerald Kelly for various reasons, but the one that he holds the highest acclaim for is being a stand-up comic with the gift to help people through their life's challenges. The gift that he has isn't just to make people laugh, but to make them cry; cry tears of joy, releasing frustrations of hurt, pain and sometimes defeat. He holds this to be the true purpose for his career as a comedian. If you haven’t heard of this comedic genius in the arena of Comedy, you haven’t heard from one of the greatest that ever did it. The joke about not being the homework parent, but trying to do his son’s homework for him is classic. His son ends up coming home crying about his grade that he received from that assignment, which was not one, but two zeros. When asked by his dad, why did get ‘two’ zeros, the boy explained, “One is for me and one is for you”… and that is just one joke of many that helped build a great career in Stand-Up Comedy.   Ger
