The Cross Over - Teresa Edwards Bears Her Soul in Lioness Magazine

Hello Soul in the City Goers,

It's me Mara and before I hit the hay, I had to just drop this quick note...The Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement was held on August 12th, 2011 and I had the pleasure of being a part of it all. From the press conference with Dennis Rodman and other inductees; to an one on one interview w/Teresa Edwards, my mentor and finally to the Enshrinement where basketball greats such as Charles Barkley, Dr. J, Scottie Pippen and coaches like Phil Jackson all came out to support the class of 2011. Edwards truly represented in rare "B-girl" style!! Seeing her walk down the aisle to receive her graduation jacket and then again on the red carpet looking fabulous, giving me a wave of appreciation and a look like, "I did it" was truly a site to see. I gave that look right back to her like, "YES YOU DID!!!", [ not that she was trying to do what she did, but she was just great at it!]

Teresa being recognized among her peers and colleagues in the league was truly an honor. I was so proud and very grateful for the opportunity to experience it all and I look forward to capturing the gem(s) from the next class, but none will shine as bright as the grace that was on the face of Ms. Edwards...

So, that being said...I wrote about her in the latest issue of Lioness Magazine. Check it out!

Comedian Gerald Kelly Gives the Gift of Laughter and So Much More...

Many know actor, comedian Gerald Kelly for various reasons, but the one that he holds the highest acclaim for is being a stand-up comic with the gift to help people through their life's challenges. The gift that he has isn't just to make people laugh, but to make them cry; cry tears of joy, releasing frustrations of hurt, pain and sometimes defeat. He holds this to be the true purpose for his career as a comedian. If you haven’t heard of this comedic genius in the arena of Comedy, you haven’t heard from one of the greatest that ever did it. The joke about not being the homework parent, but trying to do his son’s homework for him is classic. His son ends up coming home crying about his grade that he received from that assignment, which was not one, but two zeros. When asked by his dad, why did get ‘two’ zeros, the boy explained, “One is for me and one is for you”… and that is just one joke of many that helped build a great career in Stand-Up Comedy.   Ge...
